Beauty can well be left to look after herself

På loppis hittade jag en intressant bok av James Norbury: Traditional knitting patterns from Scandinavia, the British Isles, France, Italy and other European countries. Den här upplagan är Dover, 1973, men den kom först ut i 1962 med Batsford. Jag har från tidigare två av hans böcker, Odhams Encyclopedia of Knitting och The knitter’s craft, både från 1950 talet tryckta på tjockt papper med fina ritade illustrationer och diagram. På Knitty finns det en artikel om honom och bild av bokens pärm.

I Tradional knitting patterns finns det många fina mönster, i synnerhet spanska och italienska som jag inte kände till från förr. Bara ett fåtal skandinaviska mönster finns med, och dem känner jag inte igen. Det är de sista raderna i inledningen som jag instämmer med.
